65 Cats Employed By The Hermitage Museum

    Hi, everyone

    I read this cool article about how the Hermitage museum in Russia has 65 cats employed to keep the museum free of mice and other pests ,in exchange for room and board, and hugs.

    That's a lot of well-fed cats there. I think this is an idea worth promoting. I don't have the exact figures but I am sure the annual loss to damage done by rodents must be in the millions. So it will be a good idea to get cats back in shape as mousers and not just warm lap rugs.

    That must be a huge place to need THAT many cats, geesh. That's really awesome that they've been doing it this long, though, and that they have special staff to take care of them even.

    From what I have read, they do give away the cats now and then when the population goes a bit high. The report said that people who got the give-away cats felt that it was an honor to get a cat from the museum.
