For those who have outdoor cats, do your cats ever visit the neighbors ?

I have seen mine sitting on the front porch with some elderly neighbors many times. I stopped one day to talk to them and it seems they visit them daily almost like they are checking in on them.

We have a wooded back yard but if you go into the woods there are houses on the other side. I was taking a walk one day and I could see the back deck of my neighbors house. She was sitting in the lounge chair reading the paper and there is Kiki sitting on the end of the lounge with her.

They are so funny, they think they own the neighborhood.

We've had outside cats that were like that before. They ended up being more like "neighborhood cats" and you never knew where they'd end up. For all I know, other neighbors saw the cats as their own, too, and that they were simply visiting us, ha.

My cat Kitty Love (the one in my profile picture) is a total diva social butterfly. He knows he is cute and loves to prance around and show it off! He is now walking down the block and says hi to everyone. I am afraid he is going to get hit by a car or someone is going to catnap him because he is so friendly.

You're braver than me. I wouldn't let a cutie pie like that walk down the block because I would be worried about it being stolen. There's a family that lives a few blocks away that has several outdoor cats and I saw a woman walking away with one of their calicos. I told her, "I know for a fact that cat belongs to that house , you should put her down before I start screaming for the owner of the house to come out." And that's how I thwarted a catnappping, but I digress, not all neighbors will step up to protect your cat, so maybe it's not a good idea for Kitty Love to wander freely down the street, no offense intended.

Yes there is always a risk with going outside. Not just for cats but for our kids. I dont keep either of mine in though out of fear that someone will snatch them. I do keep an eye out though and my cats only spend a limited time out of our yard. They never venture near the street. Usually they travel through the yards to get to there destination. If I saw them close to the street I would have a fit.
