My kitty has a bald stomach. We got her as a full grown cat so I'm not sure what caused this. She has gone through having 2 litters of kittens and she has also been fixed. The vet hasn't said anything about her stomach. Also, I had another tortoise shell cat a few years ago that had the same issue.

Does anyone know why this happens?

My cat, Opus, had allergies that gave him dermatitis, and the itching would make him lick his tummy bald. My vet recommended a brand of over-the-counter allergy pills for it. You might want to take Mama to the vet, though, just in case.

Well I never see her licking or itching her tummy. She might have done that before I she was my cat (I got her a few years ago) but the hair just does not grow back on her stomach. I will probably just end up taking her to the vet to see what the deal is.

Is it over her entire stomach or just patches?

It's her entire tummy. Here is a picture (sorry for the bad quality, it was with my sister-in-law's phone). The dark spots are just her skin.

That's exactly what Opus's tummy looked like. Definitely take her to the vet. I suspect it may be allergies, like it was with Opus.

Take her to the vet by all means. However if everything else seems fine, you may not need to over-worry yourself about it. The cat is the one that knows best. So if she isn't complaining, you shouldn't.

I would take her to the vet, that way you will know exactly what is going on with your kitty. I had one cat a few years ago, that lost her hair on her stomach.. but it was because her stomach touched the floor all the time. She was really big and had a large stomach.

Oh, I see. I suppose all her tummy hair got rubbed off on the floor. Say, if her tummy is that big, she must be very fat. Maybe you should put her on a diet.
