Do your cats sleep in cat beds? Have you tried to get your cat to use a pet bed and it turns out the cat hates it?

Dusty and Sassy will sleep in a cat bed but they have little preference to a pet bed or our furniture. The funniest is when they try to share the cat bed and Dusty is much too large so they're both squished. We have two cat beds, and Dusty can barely fit in either but it's mostly because he sleeps weirdly. Sassy fits just fine in both but prefers the softer, more fluffy one. Mac never liked cat beds and never slept in them. In fact, Dusty and Sassy are our only two who like and use pet beds (minus the dog, who has her own bed that the cats steal sometimes).

I never buy cat beds because I know my cats would never sleep in them! Sibyl sleeps on a cardboard box at night (it's full of stuff that needs to go in storage and she sleeps on top of it for some reason) and will never sleep where I want her to. Right now? She's sleeping behind my back under the blanket I have draped over my shoulders. It's sort of uncomfortable, but very warm!

I just think buying special beds for either cat would be a waste, as they wouldn't use it.

    Nope, they don't.

At most, they will sleep *on top of* a cat bed. You know, those beds that have a hood on top that they're supposed to sleep under? So they'll squish it and sleep on top instead, hehe.

Cardboard sounds uncomfortable but maybe she likes it cause it keeps her cool? Awww, that sounds toasty despite being uncomfortable. :p Maybe ours come into such handy because we have the dog that uses them too.

On top?! I bet it's a pretty funny sight to see! So they partially, kind of, will use one. Just not appropriately:D

I LOVE IT! That is so adorable. I hope you cat changes its mind and makes the decision to sleep in that adorable bed!! Do they have a whole fruit bed collection? I cannot get over how adorable that is!

Probably so! We have a lot of dogs in our household, but they like to sleep on our fuzzy blankets or on the top of the couch instead of on a bed either! It's very odd. I'm fairly certain Sibyl does like sleeping on the box for that reason. It's also the highest point in my bedroom! We have a ton of animals, so there's fleas (they're starting to go away with extra treatment, but taking a bit) so getting up high on something not made of fabric or fur probably gives her a nice escape.

Yeah, it used to be so frustrating. Now, I just don't even buy them beds like that. They'll only sleep on top until they get their scent on it and then never again, it seems.

They had this in tonnes of different colours, it ships direct from China and was around $7 delivered, so for that money how could I not order it?!

Lucky dogs! My mom gets onto the dog for being on the furniture, the cats don't care what my mom wants. Since it's been cold our dog has been trying to sleep on top of the furniture even though she has a blanket in her bed, it's strange. Sibyl probably likes being up high too. Getting away from the fleas is a nice reprieve :) During the summer our cats will lay on the linoleum because it's hot, maybe it's something similar! Poor cats, they're hot from us having the heat on in winter and still hot even with the air conditioning in summer! :(

That sounds like a really good deal!! I'm tempted to check it out and see if they have a purple one but since we already have pet beds, it would be a waste of money. Maybe one day! :D

Out of my five cats? Only one will actually sleep in cat beds. When we had just two, we bought one for each. One of the first two would sleep in them. The other prefers the end of beds, the middle of the couch, or laundry (dirty or clean, he's not picky). The three cats after these two are exactly the same way. They all prefer laundry, couches, or beds. The two youngest like to sleep in empty boxes as well. That strawberry shaped bed might actually work, since it's strawberry shape. I have a soft fabric cube that my cats sometimes sleep in. So box shaped beds could work, haha.

Oh no! I feel like if you're going to have inside animals you should expect them to get on the furniture. They want to be somewhere comfortable too! And I'm sorry for your poor, hot cats. Are they long-haired or something?

I laughed at the laundry part! Our cats will sleep in clean clothes some times and then the cat smells like fabric softener! It's a good thing you didn't invest in more pet beds since only one will use them :p

It's mostly when they jump in the recliner my mom wants to sit in. They have a bad habit of trying to beat her to whichever seat she wants, or if she gets up they try to lay down where she was so when she comes back.....:p It's Dusty for the most part, he's large and overheats easily despite being somewhere between short/medium hair. Sassy will stay outside all summer but she's not allowed to do that when it gets dangerously hot. Sassy is short hair, and isn't bothered by the heat like Dusty. In the past my cat and my mom's cat were long haired and they would lay on the linoleum when it was really hot, too.

My cats would never. They both prefer to be relatively high up, or deep under the covers on our bed. Even if we purchased beds for them, I'm sure that they would only be used by Alice. Of course, that's just because Sibyl rarely does what you actually want her to do.

My cat sleeps on the top edge of the couch, I guess you call it the backrest of the couch. That whole ledge along the top of the couch is my cat's domain.
She also likes to sleep in the laundry basket on top of my dirty laundry.
If something falls on the floor, like a towel or throw pillow, she'll lie down on top of that. Cat beds are cute, but my cat wouldn't actually use one.

My cat sometimes does that, too.

Unfortunately, my mom likes sleeping on the couch, so if the cat is sleeping up there and my mom rolls over or flops her hand up in the middle of the night, my cat may go flying, which upsets her terribly, ha.
