OK - I have thought the matter of 'in' or 'out' over and decided that for my cats, and in my circumstances, then I will let them out.

(Yes, I may be devastated in days, weeks, months, years to find they have gone missing/injured/rta/dead from poisoning)

Both are microchipped and I have changed the microchip registration to my name and all is in order. They are now both insured via Petplan.

But ------- would you put a collar on and if so any recommendations?

If I had outdoor cats I'd definitely put collars on them
I'd pick the safety collars, if they get caught on something they release.

Me too, I just put collars when I and my pet cat go out for a walk and pee-pee. I don't feel like putting some of them when we are inside the house . She plays all day long with her ball and when feels tired she'll just come beside me and sleep while on my foot.

All my cats have collars, I use flea collars and 4 of them go outside, 2 are too young at the moment. They are also safety collars.

No collars here, they never go out. Sometimes I put some on just for fun with a little jingle bell and safety clasp and see who can get it off first.

I used to put collars on the twins so that I could tell them apart at a glance. They eventually figured out how to take them off, and I haven't bothered since then. Also, when we get the occasional flea infestation, collars are a PITA, because the fleas inevitably hide underneath it.
