They're all around us in modern culture - cats love to chase mice, eating fish is their favorite, etc. How many of these do you find to be true? Which are the most ludicrous you've heard?

    "Cats eat mice."
False... Both of my cats will play with the mice until they're dead.
Then, one of them will hide the dead mouse, the other will just leave it.

Yep, as Epicfied said, they don't eat the mice at all! They just play with them until they die and then get bored of them.

Another one is that dogs hate cats...and therefore, cats are scared of dogs, don't get along, etc. Our younger cat gets along great with the dog, though.

"Cats always land on their feet"
False, Dusty has fallen off the divider in the bathroom, hit the toilet on his side, then the floor on his side, to finally scramble back up to his feet. Twice.

I actually had a cat that would always land on his feet when he fell off our stairs balcony, which actually happen quite often. Right now he is all fat and lazy, he just lays there and sleeps all day. It's pretty cool to watch him sleep though because he is large enough to lay flat on his back and look up at the sky like a person.

My cats have landed on their sides too! They try their very hardest not to, but it does happen. It's probably more painful, the poor things, but sometimes you just can't help it.

I hope it didn't hurt, but my knee-jerk reaction was to laugh at him. I did check on him both times it happened and he didn't show any pain. He mostly just shook it off and left. In my defense, it was the bathroom and he was acting like a goofball in the first place and caused his own falling. (He was trying to get his head upside down so he could rub it on the corner of the divider because I wasn't petting him.) Were your cats doing something silly or was it a genuine accident on their part? I've never seen Sassy fall, she's so sure-footed. Dusty's a little more.....careless.

    In keeping with the topic:
    "Cats hate water"
False. To make it remotely accurate it should say, "Most cats dislike being in water." Dusty is fascinated by water. He watches it and will put his paws in it sometimes but he will never be happy about it coming down on his furry head. He mostly just likes watching it come from the faucet, the shower-head, or watch the toilet flush from the divider. He'll jump into the tub after the water is off and you're trying to dry yourself. He dislikes rain really, not water! :p

Generally they're taken by surprise! As in, someone scared them or they didn't realize the end of the ledge was so close and tipped over. I always laugh when it happens too, don't worry! Cats are silly, especially during instances like that. They've never been hurt, so I feel it's okay to laugh!

And the older one secretly cares...
They fight, but it seems to be like a sibling fighting nowadays.

Earlier, the dog hurt himself and yelped a few times. The older cat went nuts until he was okay.
