Sure, we could look up the translations ourselves, but I thought having the pictures with them, too, were pretty interesting. So cute. <3

~Edit~ Can you please move this thread to the Pictures and Videos subforum? I somehow managed to get it in the Meet My Cat forum by accident. I suppose technically we do have a cat named Neko, so maybe you're meeting her again in the lower left there, hehe. Thanks!

In the Netherlands it's 'kat', pronounced 'cat' with the 'a' like in 'aw'. Cute pic!

This is so cute and thanks for posting the Netherlands one Yolanda. I think I am going to name my next cat Katze or Neko. So cute! I love the little kitties.

My baby's name is Neko. We pronounce it with a long E rather than the proper short E.
At the time, I didn't know the proper pronunciation but I love this one as a name instead.

I prefer it that way, too. It gives it a little twist and makes it her own instead of being quite as literal.

Exactly. I just like the sound to it better, for one... Kind of fits her too though.
She's a cat that doesn't always act like a cat.
She's named cat but isn't pronounced the same. ;)

Here are two more to add to the list.

In Malay, a cat is called a 'kucing'. Pronounced 'koo-jing'. In Thai, a cat is called 'meaw'. Pronounced just like the sound of a cat meowing. And no, Thais don't call dogs 'woof'. In Thai, a dog is called 'mar'. Rhymes with 'bar'.

I love the Malay name, that would make a perfectly cute name for a cat ;-)

These are all so cute! I can't decide if the words themselves are cute or if it's the cartoon, lol.

...I typed that and Sibyl crawled up on me as if to say, "you just think cats are cute, silly!" perfect timing, I say. So maybe it's a lot of that x]
