All my cats "talk" to me sometimes, usually when they want food! But one of my cats, Sav, seems to talk all the time! When we let her out in the garden for the first time she wandered about meowing and chirruping at all the plants, insects etc - it was so funny to watch. She meows at things all round the house and sits on my lap talking to me.

Do you have a chatty cat?

Thomas used to talk quite a bit. Now that he is older he doesn't talk as much. I do miss it. Oliver will be vocal when he has something on his mind, like he is mad and just venting. It's funny.

Precious is extremely chatty with everyone, visitors included, Edge will join in when he hears her talking. Trinity is also pretty verbal, but no where near as verbal as precious is.

Mama is extremely talkative. I love it :) She has different meows depending on what she wants. I can distinguish when she wants food, attention, or she just wants to show me something (on a few occasions, that means chewed up bugs.. ew!) She'll also meow and me when I meow at her. Actually, every time I pet her she meows.. it's really strange.

My cat is VERY vocal. If he wants something, he tells me.

I can tell what he wants by the different meows that he has. :)

My blind kitty, Bollie, is very vocal. He wants me to answer him so he can track me down around the house more easily. He also talks to me when he wants something, and sometimes I am not sure why he does it (perhaps he's just happy and wants to be heard or something?). My other cats are pretty talkative as well but not all through the day like Bollie. They have their moments when asking for food, attention and such.

Max talks only when it's important (to him). Most of the time he'll just give me a certain look. He meows before eating or when he's in the kitchen and wants food, he meows loudly when he's about to use the litter box and he'll give me a soft mew sometimes when he wants attention or to be cuddled, even though he sleeps on my lap for hours at a time while I am working (even when I change positions) without a fuss. So, most of the time he's not too chatty.

I love it when a cat sleeps on your lap while you are working. None of my current cats do this, and I do miss it. I love my cats with all my heart and I wouldn't trade them for the world, with or without them sleeping on my lap, but it's something I do really like ;-)

Green Seven is the strong. silent type. Masked One, on the other hand, is quite the opposite. He - well I think it's a he - would sit on my knee and yowl softly at me. The only problem is he's very insistent so after a while of this one-way conversation, I have to shoo him off my knee.

Yes, they love when I get down on the floor and talk to them and play with them. They will meow, and talk back to me.. it is so funny! I love my kitties, they are so sweet and fun to be around.

Kiliamo is the most talkative. He meows at me for pretty much anything -- food, attention, just chatting. The others will talk to me occasionally, but nothing like Kiliamo.

Our 2 youngest kittens are becoming increasingly talkative and make all sorts of cute and funny noises. I love it when all my cats sing for their food lol

My Siamese loves to talk! Some days she talks up a storm and other days she just talks to tell me she needs food, water or a litter box cleaning. My tabby does not talk very often so when he does, he likely is up to something. He tends to squeak more than meow, so maybe that is why.

Many years back, I had a tom that totally refused to say anything. If he's hungry, he would just put his front paws on my leg. If I ignore him, then he would put out his claws and grip my leg lightly. I always got the message when he did that.

My cats are both talkative. I really think the girl is funny, tho- she talks to herself sometimes. She plays in a room by herself with her toys and meows very enthusiastically over and over.

My cat is not very vocal anymore unless he wants food or to go outside! He has always been pretty independent and never really been that vocal come to think of it..

That's a very different kind of cat. I have had many cats but this is the first time, I hear that a cat would talk with itself. Wonder what it's saying.
