Does your cat scare you sometimes by how quiet they can be? Do they creep you out when you find them staring at you secretly?
Dusty lost his collar outside sometime on Sunday, so now he just appears places because you don't hear him coming. All our pets collars have a bell on them and now Dusty has full use of stealth without it. I was brushing my teeth last night and when I turned to leave Dusty was sitting with 1/3 of his face and body showing behind the door-frame. Just staring at me. I almost had a heart attack, it scared me that bad.
If he had his collar on I would have heard it when he stretched to get up from the couch and come sauntering down the hallway.
Does your cat creep on you? I don't mean when they're curious about what you're doing and it's obvious, but an expressionless stare.

The expressionless stare thing is a little spooky, but once you get him another collar with a bell ,things will go back to normal. The cat might be expressionless because he's bored or spaced out. He's still the same silly cat you've been telling us about, you're just a little spooked because you can't hear him coming. Everything will be okay once you get him another collar.
If only all cat problems were this easy to solve.

We got him a new collar the next day and now I hear him coming. We've noticed he's been getting up on high things (the tables) to soullessly watch kitchen happenings.
I was also spooked because it was late at night and I'd been watching horror movies on Netflix for a few days, close to a week now! Everything is back to normal now, as far as hearing him coming. He won't sneak up on me again! :) Unless he loses this collar, haha.

Now you have put into words what I felt about cats before I became a cat lover. I used to find them spooky and kind of sneaky. You're right though, sometimes my cat scares me when I don't expect him to be there but generally, he is so chatty, it's hard not to hear him coming. The bell on a collar is an excellent idea. The stare I also noticed, but often I think it's when he's sleepy.

They are sneaky, you have to watch out for them because they steal food right off the plate sometimes besides sneaking up on you!:p We have bells on all our pets, it's good for finding where they're hiding out in the house sometimes. You're right, the stare mostly happens after being asleep! It's like he goes from the squinty-eyed "what are you doing, human?" to the soulless "heeeeeyyyyy........"

I've never put bells on my cats, I've always felt it'll annoy me to no end if I do, so this doesn't sound out of the ordinary at all for me! I'll often turn around and spot Sibyl watching me or laying somewhere I didn't think she'd be. I think it's just the nature of cats. If she's following me around at all, instead of ignoring me, I'm taking it to mean she loves me!

    Lol!

Yes, they do creep me out at times. Mine don't wear bells either, so I'm use to them slinking about without being heard. It's still weird when you catch them staring at you, though.
