Do you trim your cat's nails?

My mother in law does but I never have. Maybe I should just so my two little brats don't kill each other. I never wanted to have them declawed because I was concerned that if I ever had to put them outside or if they ever just escaped they wouldn't be able to defend themselves. Even taking just the front claws can make them unable to climb a tree if they need to. Is trimming their nails a good practice?

I haven't and won't. I can see why some others might be tempted to and I understand why people have them declawed, but I just won't mess with their nails at this point. I guess I feel like it's such a part of them....even just the act of "sharpening their claws" even when they're declawed....that I leave them to it.
