I don't know about you people, but I personally don't like to use my cat as a vermin control device. But I know people who do, I just don't feel comfortable with the idea my Bob touches those nasty things! I'm talking about rats, of course. We live very close to an abandoned place that is filled with rats, so we see rats over here very often during summer, but it really irks me to think Bob might catch one, play with it and maybe eat it.

I mean, do you folks think that's even safe for a cat? I have a lot doubts!!! I just don't want him to even touch them, who knows what kind of disease they could have, after all they're rats. I know most of them don't have rabies, and if they do they don't live for too long, but it still worries me.

What do you think about this? Do you think is even safe? What can I do?

I have two male cats and one female cat. When we didn't have the female cat, the males were lazy and would not go after anything. I don't keep my cats to get vermin because I am afraid they will get diseases, but my female cat is a natural hunter and will pounce on anything that moves.

Yeah, I have the same fear!!! Sadly we live in a place that is next to a huge building that is filled with rats  I really don't know what to do about that... plus the vets here are completely useless when it comes to cats. When the new veterinary clinic opened I asked the doctor there (a woman) if they treated cats, she looked at me in a weird way... and told me no, we don't treat that! Like I was trying to get her to treat an exotic animal... like a lizard :D So... I really can't trust most vets over here!
