I'm looking for an affordable solution to having to take my long haired cat into the groomers. I have seen some youtube videos about dry shampoos and foams, but wanted to hear it from the forum. I'm learning towards a foam, but am still up in the air about this. What are some great brands you have used?

I've never even contemplated shampooing my cat! Perhaps your vet could make some recommendations?

At my pet supply store, the shelves are full of all kinds of brands of shampoo for dogs and cats, both wet and dry. I try a different one every time, so I do not have any particular preference.

I've never tried either one Booger and Tigger would probably put up a huge fight if I tried to shampoo them and Bella loves to play in water so she's pretty clean all the time. LOL

I haven't used a foam so far, I only found a dry shampoo powder which worked very well for my very scared cat which can not be bathed. When we give him a medicine he freaks out and pees out of anxiety, running across our house. So we didn't want to make him even more scared trying to bath him. The powder works well, it's worth it's money for sure. It's not that expensive. You can read my full review here: http://www.cathow.com/threads/gimpet-dry-cleaning-powder.936/

I have not tried foams or powder dry shampoos yet. I Do know if you ever come across strawberry grooming spray ( cant rember the brand name) do not even think about buying it. My son had bought it and used it on Rio and it was just a mess! Rio needed a bath even more than he had prior to my son using the grooming spray.

I have used the dry shampoo before. It's just like a powder. Dust it over the cat. Then comb the hair until the power is all out. The cat smells clean and fresh again.

I will be sure to stay away from any Strawberry sprays. I don't want to use anything that will harm him either from wild chemicals. I'm going to head out to the pet store tomorrow and try to pick up something for him. Thanks for the suggestions and great review, Yolanda!

Yeah you should watch out for chemicals that can damage his fur or his eyes or his body. There are a lot of unsafe products out there :S

Just like the one I used as well. I liked it a lot. I agree with Shole that you must be carefull with products that might damage the eyes or body of your pet. And even with a good product keep it away from the eyes; it's never a good thing to get it in there.

It's easy to keep the dry shampoo from the eyes of the cat. Just don't use it on the head. Use a damp towel to wipe the face and head of the cat, instead.
