I used to work at an all cat practice as a veterinary assistant. I was wondering what others thought about all cat clinics. Do you think they are worth a higher cost? Do you think they are a more friendly environment for your cat? Do you feel that your cat is less scared going to a cat only clinic? Does taking your cat to a feline specialist make you feel more confident in the care that your animal is receiving? Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on the topic. I was always curious when I worked there, but I never got to ask any of the clients about it.

We don't have any cat specialty clinics in my area so I really couldn't say. My cats don't really have a problem with going to the vet because they are used to being around dogs and other cats so it's a little strange but it doesn't freak them out.

I don't have one near me, too. If the prices were similar, I could see it being worthwhile to take them there instead, especially if they had to stay overnight for a surgery or something. The stress of all the barking could really make the trip 10x worse than it would be otherwise. If the prices are insanely different, though, or just for regular visits, then I can't see much reason to.

All the vets I know handle both cats and dogs. And other animals, too, like cows and sheep. Maybe it's because the market for cat specialists isn't big enough where I live.

I don't have cat speciality clinics near me, but would love to visit one. I think it would be wonderful and worth the extra cost. It's stressful to get my cat to go to the vet because he hates the dogs and sometimes I'm worried he will pick up something from being around the other animals.

It is not very likely that your cat would pick something up from the other animals - it is more likely that it would pick something up from a cat since they are the same species. I understand what you mean by cat being afraid to go to the vet because of dogs. That is not an uncommon occurrence, especially if the cat has had bad experienced with dogs in the past. I think they are a good idea if there is a market for them.

I have nothing against vets. In fact, one of my best buddies is a vet, with a heart of gold. However, generally speaking, the vet office is where all the pet germs are holding their daily grand summit. So taking your pet to the vet is like taking your pet to make friends with all those pet germs.
